Tuesday Night
Prayer

As this day comes to a close, I quiet the noise of my thoughts and my efforts, and seek you in the stillness.

Reflect

Refrain for the Evening

Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.
      Psalm 116:7

Am I going into this evening carrying anxiety or worry in my heart? Lord, I open my hands now and give those things to you in prayer. Having laid my burdens at your feet, I receive the peace that will guard my heart and mind. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Refrain for the Evening

Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.
      Psalm 116:7

Am I going into this evening fearful over something in my life?  I take a deep breath now and consciously choose to trust you with my life and the lives of those I love. (Psalm 56:3)

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
      Psalm 27:1

Rejoice

As I go to sleep, my Father, I praise you for sustaining me this day, and thank you for your blessings in it. Show me now where you have been answering prayers or how you were at work in my life today.

Evening Scripture

LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
      Psalm 16:5-11

Repent

Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.
      Psalm 24:3,4

Lord, please show me the ways I have sinned against you today. Call out wrong attitudes and actions so that I might confess them to you now. Be sweeter to me than the sins that I’m hanging onto. Help me to lay them before you and remind me of what I lose by holding on to them.

I thank you, Father, that when I acknowledge my sin to you, and do not cover my iniquity; when I confess my transgressions to you, that you forgive the iniquity of my sin (Psalm 32:5). I trust now that I have received your forgiveness.

Rest

Refrain for the Evening

Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.
      Psalm 116:7

Closing Prayer

In peace I now lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety (Psalm 4:8). Grant rest this night, I pray; that tomorrow I would again seek your kingdom and your glory in all the earth. Amen.
