Why does Rio Vista Community Church serve the needs of the community?

What is the evidence of God’s presence? How do we know when God is at work? Jesus gave evidence that God, the Father, was present in him. He quoted the prophet Isaiah,

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Jesus came because people matter to him.
Jesus showed them his love through acts of mercy.
Jesus left behind a community of believers—the Church—to continue his work of renewal.

Jesus’ ultimate expression of servanthood was his death on the cross for the sins of all who would trust in him so that they might have eternal life. All his serving pointed toward this ultimate act of restoration. That’s what our serving does as well. It’s what the “SERVE” in “Gather, Plug in, Serve” is all about: finding your thing and doing it for the benefit of your world, for Jesus’ sake.

There are lots of ways to serve at and through Rio. You can check out our Rio ministries by clicking on “Plug-in” above, or you can click here to learn about other ministries we love and work with to serve our city and our world.
