Personal Worship
This week we will be looking at how the Holy Spirit delivers both physically and spiritually.
Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.
As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.
Prayer of Approach
Lord, as I approach your throne today let me feel the gravity of both your holiness and your mercy. That you are the King of Kings, yet as your child, you invite me into your throne room. I ask that you would meet me and care for me during this time
We choose to rejoice in the power of God’s Word, with all his people in Deuteronomy 32:10:
He found him in a desert land,
and in the howling waste of the wilderness;
he encircled him, he cared for him,
he kept him as the apple of his eye
Deuteronomy 32:10
Today we are reflecting on the words of Scripture in Exodus 14, where we read:
Then the Lord said to Moses,“Tell the people of Israel to turn back and encamp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; you shall encamp facing it, by the sea. For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, ‘They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.’ And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, “What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?” So he made ready his chariot and took his army with him, and took six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them. And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the people of Israel while the people of Israel were going out defiantly. The Egyptians pursued them, all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and his horsemen and his army, and overtook them encamped at the sea, by Pi-hahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.
When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt? Is not this what we said to you in Egypt: ‘Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness.” And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward. Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground. And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”
Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them, coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night without one coming near the other all night.
Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, clogging their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord threw the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained. But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
Thus the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.

This week we are looking at how God through the power of the Holy Spirit delivers his people both physically and spiritually. We kick off the week with one of the most famous deliverances in Scripture.
As soon as Pharaoh had let the Israelites go, God tells them what is going to happen. They are to camp with their backs to the sea then God will harden Pharoah’s heart and he will pursue them. If you are Moses you have to be thinking about what is going on. Why would you do that? This can all be over if that doesn’t happen! God tells him why though. God will receive glory over Pharoah and the Egyptians will know that he is the LORD. If the plagues were not enough to destroy their Egyptian gods, this will be the final straw for them. It goes exactly like God had told Moses.
The Israelites lifted their eyes and they were obviously greatly afraid. They saw no escape. They were so scared that they would rather be back in slavery and die there than be in this place. Moses though trusts the Lord. He doesn’t know how deliverance is going to come, but his faith in God is strong. He knows that the Lord will fight the battle for them.
And God shows up. The Red Sea parts allowing the Israelites to make safe passage through. Then as the Egyptians try to make their way through the walls of the Red Sea crush them.
Lord, I ask to see the power that you showed Israel at the foot of the Red Sea. Open my eyes to the glory of who you are. Reveal to me where I doubt your deliverance and show me that you are the Lord who fights my battles.

3)Where in my life have I seen the Lord’s deliverance?
4)Is there something that I need deliverance for at this moment?
Lord, I want to see revival in this world, in my country, in my city, and in my home. Begin that revival with me. Wake me in the places I have fallen asleep. Clear out the cobwebs of my soul. Break me of the mute idols that I cling to. Set me ablaze and let that fire spread for your glory and your glory alone.
As I read the passage again slowly, I listen for anything that You would say to me in it. Help me see how to position my life in order to yield to your word.

Yielding Prayer
Lord, you are the God who fights my battles and I only need to be still. I want to fight my battles on my own, break me of that desire. Open my eyes to your power so that there is nothing to fear because you are with me. Show me the deliverance you have for me today.
Yielding Promise
And now, as I move into the day ahead, the Lord who loves me reminds me in Psalm 32:7:
ou are a hiding place for me;
you preserve me from trouble;
you surround me with shouts of deliverance.

Closing Prayer
Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus.
