Hey, Church! 

While I was away recently, my friend who led worship in my place introduced a new song to you called “Firm Foundation (He Won’t).” I was asked to learn it for a Church United gathering and I liked it so much that I wanted to get it into our rotation at Rio right away. I am praying that you adopt its message as your own this weekend. 

The theme of the song draws heavily from Jesus’ parable about a house built on a rock: 

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

(Matthew 7:24-27)

Consider these words of Jesus this weekend. Set aside time to read His Word and ask Him to speak through it. He delights in you and has promised to firmly establish those who hear and do His Word.
