What does God call us to in regards to our treasure?
Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.
As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.
Prayer of Approach
Father, thank you for meeting me here. I bring you my whole self—my joys, my worries, and my need for your wisdom. Speak to me through your Word and help me to listen well. Let this time with you refresh my heart and guide my steps today.
I choose to rejoice, with all God’s people, in the powerful promise that God gives us in Psalm 30…
Blessed be the Lord!
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
Psalm 30:11-12
As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.
“Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord‘s; it is holy to the Lord.
Leviticus 27:30
As I reread the passage, I reflect on the questions, “How is my life touched by this word?” and “How does this passage connect with my life?”
“Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord‘s; it is holy to the Lord.
Leviticus 27:30
Tithe literally means 10th. Think about what this short verse is teaching. God is saying every tithe, and then he comprehensively lists everything that exists. And who does it belong to? It’s the Lord’s! What does God think about that tithe? It is holy to him, which means it is sacred. It is an act of worship. God owns everything, 100% and he calls us to give 10% of the first fruits of our labors to him in an act of worship.
Lord, show me what you have for me today. Speak to my heart and show me what my relationship with the treasures I have in my life is.
Lord, awaken my heart and stir my spirit with fresh fire from you. Revive my love for your Word, renew my joy in your presence, and restore my zeal to live for your glory. Let your Spirit breathe new life in me, that I may walk in your power and shine your light in a weary world.
As I read the passage for the final time, I listen to how the Lord is inviting me to respond to him. Where in my life do I need to yield in obedience to what he has for me?
“Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord‘s; it is holy to the Lord.
Leviticus 27:30
Yielding Prayer
Lord, I know it is all yours, and yet it is still hard for me oftentimes to give things away. Give me a heart that knows it belongs to you, and in obedience, I do what you want me to do with it. Thank you for all the blessings you have given me. Give me your Spirit and help me to release the controlling grip that I have on it all.
Yielding Promise
And now, as I move into the day ahead, the Lord who loves me reminds me in Colossians 1…
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
Colossians 1:15-16
Closing Prayer
Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus
