Personal Worship

We look to the wisdom of Paul today.

Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.

Pause

As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.

Prayer of Approach

Jesus, you came to this world as the Word. The True Word who entered into time and space. Enter into this time with me now. I seek you, and let me find you. Meet with me now by the power of your Holy Spirit.

Rejoice and Reflect

I choose to rejoice, with all God’s people, in the powerful promise that God gives us in Psalm 23…

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.

       Psalm 23:5

As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load.

Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.  So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

      Galatians 6:1-10

As I reread the passage, I reflect on the questions, “How is my life touched by this word?” and “How does this passage connect with my life?”

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.  So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

      Galatians 6:1-10

Paul calls believers to live out the law of Christ—the law of love—through humility, restoration, and perseverance in doing good. When someone falls, our response should not be judgment but gentleness, remembering our own need for grace. Carrying each other’s burdens is an expression of Christ’s heart within us. Yet we are also called to personal responsibility—to sow what is good, knowing that our spiritual harvest reflects the seeds we plant. In a world quick to criticize and slow to serve, Paul urges us not to grow weary in doing good, because in God’s timing, faithful sowing will always bring a harvest of blessing.

Ask

Lord, I ask that you give me a gentle and tender heart. Let me see those in need as you have seen me when I am in need.

  1. How do I respond when I see someone struggling or caught in sin—judgment or gentleness?
  2. What burdens might God be asking me to help carry for someone else?
  3. In what areas of my life am I sowing to please my flesh rather than the Spirit?
  4. How can I stay encouraged to keep doing good when results or rewards seem slow to come?

Lord, I ask that you would revive the Christians who have fallen into a cold or dead state. Remind us that you are our first love and bring us back to you. Restore what has been broken and pour out your Holy Spirit!

Yield

As I read the passage for the final time, I listen to how the Lord is inviting me to respond to him. Where in my life do I need to yield in obedience to what he has for me?

Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.  So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Yielding Prayer

Gracious Father, thank you for the mercy you’ve shown me when I’ve fallen short. Teach me to extend that same grace to others with gentleness and love. Help me to bear burdens patiently and to sow good seed in every season, trusting that you see and reward faithfulness in due time. Keep me from growing weary in service or discouraged in well-doing. Today I yield my pride, impatience, and self-focus, choosing instead to walk by your Spirit and to live for the eternal harvest you promise.

Yielding Promise

And now, as I move into the day ahead, the Lord who loves me reminds me in 2 Thessalonians…

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.

      2 Thessalonians 3:16

Closing Prayer

Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus
