Personal Worship
We remind ourselves today of the sanctification currently taking place in our lives.
Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.
As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.
Prayer of Approach
Lord, as I approach your throne, remind me who you are and who I am in you. I humble myself before you, and I lay all my anxieties and cares at your feet today.
I choose to rejoice, with all God’s people, in the powerful promise that God gives us in Psalm 37…
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.
Psalm 37:4-6
As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:6
As I reread the passage, I reflect on the questions, “How is my life touched by this word?” and “How does this passage connect with my life?”
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:6
It kills Satan that God is sanctifying us. Satan wants us stuck in our sin, but God, by the power of his Holy Spirit, is transforming us day by day as we behold him. Sanctification is the truth that we are being freed from the power of sin. We are justified by Jesus’ death and resurrection, and we are also sanctified day by day.
Lord, help me to hate my sin today. Show me where I am bound and free me. Fill me with your Spirit and transform me.
Lord, revive your people! Pour out your Spirit in a supernatural way for a season of time and bring many to faith. Wipe out the darkness and bind the enemy.
As I read the passage for the final time, I listen to how the Lord is inviting me to respond to him. Where in my life do I need to yield in obedience to what he has for me?
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:6
Yielding Prayer
Lord, I praise you that you don’t leave me where you found me. Teach my heart to love the work of repentance and sanctification in my life. In obedience, I embrace the difficulty of letting go of my idols and clinging to you.
Yielding Promise
And now, as I move into the day ahead, the Lord who loves me reminds me in Exodus 14…
“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
Exodus 14:14
Closing Prayer
Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus
