Personal Worship
Samson is captured.
Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.
As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.
Prayer of Approach
Lord, as I approach you today, I remind myself of who you are. You are the God who created all things and desire all of the glory. You are a God who is perfectly holy and set apart, and yet you choose to reside with your children. So I ask and expect that you will do that now during this time in your Word and prayer.
I choose to rejoice, with all God’s people, in the powerful promise that God gives us in 2 Timothy 2…
The saying is trustworthy, for:
If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
if we endure, we will also reign with him;
if we deny him, he also will deny us;
if we are faithless, he remains faithful—
for he cannot deny himself.

As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.
When Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called the lords of the Philistines, saying, “Come up again, for he has told me all his heart.” Then the lords of the Philistines came up to her and brought the money in their hands. 19 She made him sleep on her knees. And she called a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his head. Then she began to torment him, and his strength left him. 20 And she said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as at other times and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him. 21 And the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes and brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze shackles. And he ground at the mill in the prison.

As I reread the passage, I reflect on the questions, “How is my life touched by this word?” and “How does this passage connect with my life?”

Samson rises, expecting his former strength, but he does not realize what has already been lost. Private compromise has now become public collapse. The greatest danger is spiritual dullness—when we no longer recognize what is missing. The Spirit of the Lord left him.
Lord, I ask that you save me from experiencing what Samson experienced. Ignite my heart with a passion and desire for you.
Revive us, Lord! By the power of your Holy Spirit, convict us and lead us back to repentance. Bring us back to our first love in you.
As I read the passage for the final time, I listen to how the Lord is inviting me to respond to him. Where in my life do I need to yield in obedience to what he has for me?

Yielding Prayer
Lord, I yield myself fully to you again. Keep me aware of your presence and sensitive to your voice. Do not let hidden compromise grow where I stop noticing spiritual loss.
Yielding Promise
And now, as I move into the day ahead, the Lord who loves me reminds me in Lamentations 3…
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”

Closing Prayer
Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus
