Psalm 46:10 gives us a command that might be especially difficult for many of us: “Be still, and know that I am God.”
We live pretty noisy lives. Even when the room around us is quiet, our minds usually aren’t. There is always another notification, another email, another decision, another problem to solve, or another thing we are carrying around in our heads.
And yet, one of the gifts of worship is that God calls us out of all that noise and reminds us again that He is God. Not us.
We are not holding the universe together. We are not ultimately responsible for making everything work out. We can work hard, plan wisely, and care deeply about the things God has entrusted to us, but at the end of the day, He is the Creator and we are not. There is a lot of freedom in remembering that.
Before tomorrow, find just ten quiet minutes. Put your phone in another room. Sit outside. Take a short walk. Read Psalm 46 slowly.
Maybe pray something simple: “Lord, You are God and I am not. You are faithful. You are good. Help me trust You.” Then name the thing that has been creating the most noise or anxiety in your heart and hand it over to Him again. You do not need to have everything figured out before tomorrow.
Just come ready to be reminded that He is good and He is near.
Your brother,
Mason
