As finite beings, we are limited in our ability to understand God the Holy Spirit. Most of us have only a vague idea who He is and what He does because we do not have an earthly analogy for Him as we do the Father and Son. “The Spirit’s presence is recognized exclusively by its effects,” much like the wind.*
So, what effects may we observe in order to better know Him? The Bible is full of Holy-Spirit activity we can examine. In our everyday lives, we can see Him through the regeneration of souls, or through the fruit those souls subsequently bear (see Gal. 5:22-23 for a list). But personally, the place I can most consistently observe the effects of the Spirit is wherever the Church is worshiping Him in song.
Almighty God has invited you to step into His temple this Sunday, to know Him by experience! In fact, you are the temple where His holy presence dwells. He has furthermore promised to be in our midst, rejoicing and singing over us as we unite our voices in praise. So look for the Him in worship this weekend and expect to find Him.
Your brother,
Ryan
