Prepare
for Worship

By: Mason Brown

Hey, Church!

Romans 12:1 says, “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

Worship is not simply something we do with our mouths for twenty minutes on Sunday morning. We bring our whole selves to God.

Our attention. Our bodies. Our thoughts. Our voices. Our time. Our relationships. Our work. Our plans. Our hopes. Our fears.

And sometimes preparing for worship is very practical.

Maybe it means getting to bed at a decent time tonight. Maybe it means leaving home a few minutes earlier tomorrow so you are not rushing. Maybe it means deciding ahead of time to put your phone away. Those things may seem small, but they can help us be present. It is easy to physically be in the room and mentally be somewhere else.

So before tomorrow, ask the Lord to help you be fully present.

Present to Him. Present to His Word. Present to the people around you. Present to whatever He wants to do in your heart.

We do not come to offer God a perfect performance. We come to offer ourselves. And because of Jesus, even our imperfect worship is received with grace.

See you tomorrow, church.

Your brother,

Mason
