We have a new song to sing this weekend called “What I See.” Here’s what I think it’s all about:
Our physical eyes look at the world around us and can only see a deepening darkness and decay. Though our souls long for a world of beauty and rest, we exist daily in a perishing reality. Even our brighter, happier moments are fleeting and will soon be only a vague memory. But God has given us the gift of faith, which allows us to see beneath the surface to a deeper reality where He is making all things new.
The eyes of faith look at the darkness of our world and say, “How brightly the Holy Spirit will shine through us when we act, think, and speak with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control!” The world grieves the loss of loved ones as those without any hope or purpose; we grieve as those whose faith assures us that we will see them and the goodness of the Lord in the Land of the Living. We endure pains of many kinds, in bodies that are weak and corruptible. But in faith we are, even as we age, growing from one degree of glory to another!
The song we will sing this Sunday declares in faith, “Do you see what I see? I see signs and I see wonders; I see bursts of living color! Dead things coming back to life again; I believe there’s about to be another resurrection!”
The rest of the lyrics are below, along with a YouTube recording. Listen, watch, and pray for eyes of faith as you enter this weekend. “Come alive! Wake up, sleeper! He is risen, and we are risen with Him!”
Your brother,
Ryan
“What I See”
(Intro)
Do you see what I see?
Do you see what I see?
(Verse 1)
I see lightning, I hear thunder
Something stirring six feet under
Dead things coming back to life again
I believe there’s about to be another resurrection
(Verse 2)
I see signs and I see wonders
I see bursts of living color
Dead things coming back to life again
I believe there’s about to be another resurrection
(Verse 3)
Hallelujah it is finished
See the grave no body in it
Dead things coming back to life again
I believe there’s about to be another resurrection
(Chorus)
Come alive, wake up sleeper
He is risen, we are risen with him
Paradise, flung wide open
He is risen, we are risen with him
(Bridge 1)
If you see what I see, that the grave is empty
Then you know what I know: anything is possible
(Bridge 2)
Do you see what I see? I see signs and I see wonders
Do you see what I see? I see lighting I hear thunder
Do you see what I see? Something stirring six feet under
