Prepare
for Worship

By: Ryan Brasington

Hey Church!

Last Sunday we studied what it means to “Gather” for worship on Sunday mornings. We all know that worship is important, but why do we worship God together? Of the many reasons we can glean from scripture, we highlighted three:

  1. To spur one another on. (Heb. 10:24; Eph. 5:18-19)
  2. To be where God meets with His people. (Heb. 2:12; 1 Pet. 2:5)
  3. To be a witness to the watching world. (1 Cor. 14:24-25)

Peter says that we are like “living stones,” being constructed into a spiritual temple-house for God’s dwelling. That means that when we worship together, we sharpen one another, become the dwelling place of God, and bear witness to unbelievers that “God is surely among you.” It is so much more than a religious observance that good, dutiful Christians attend! It is where heaven meets earth.

So, come prepared for a foretaste of heaven! Ask for spiritual eyes to see Jesus enthroned on our praises, for ears to hear His voice singing over and through us, for willing hearts to receive His Word, and for His Spirit to conform us into the image of Christ! Join me in the simple prayer, “Lord, we come expectant and hungry for more of you!”

Your brother,

Ryan
