Personal Worship

2025 is upon us!

Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.

Pause

As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.

Prayer of Approach

Lord, as I begin this new year I begin with you. You are the God who is in control of it all and let me trust that this year. Let me behold your glory and experience your love this year.

Rejoice and Reflect

I choose to rejoice, with all God’s people, in the powerful promise that God gives us in Psalm 62…

For God alone my soul waits in silence;
    from him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
    my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.

       Psalm 62:1-2

As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.

 So teach us to number our days
    that we may get a heart of wisdom.
Return, O Lord! How long?
    Have pity on your servants!
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,
    that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
    and for as many years as we have seen evil.
Let your work be shown to your servants,
    and your glorious power to their children.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
    and establish the work of our hands upon us;
    yes, establish the work of our hands!

       Psalm 90:12-17

As I reread the passage, I reflect on the questions, “How is my life touched by this word?” and “How does this passage connect with my life?”

Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
    and establish the work of our hands upon us;
    yes, establish the work of our hands!

       Psalm 90:12-17

Every day when we woke up the mercies of God were new. Think about that. We did nothing to earn or deserve it. God is inexhaustible and he pours out his love onto you and me every single day. I’m sure some days this past year that may have seemed like a lie. Some days that all made sense, but in the midst of all of it the steadfast love of the Lord never ceased. He cared for you. He saw you. He loved you. Rest in that today.

Ask

Lord, I ask that you teach me to number my days. I ask that this year would draw me closer to you and to your favor.

  1. What does it look like to number my days?
  2. Where do I need to cry out to the Lord?
  3. Where am I seeking satisfaction outside of the love of God?
  4. What “work of my hands” does the Lord have for me this year?

Lord, as 2024 closes out our prayer remains the same. We ask in unity that you would bring revival. That you would look down at the hearts of humanity and you would pour out your Spirit on us. Do what we cannot do and let it begin with your Church. Bring us to repentance of our sin and let us behold your glory. Transform us by the power of your Holy Spirit.

Yield

As I read the passage for the final time, I listen for how the Lord is inviting me to respond to him. Where in my life do I need to yield in obedience to what he has for me?

 So teach us to number our days
    that we may get a heart of wisdom.
Return, O Lord! How long?
    Have pity on your servants!
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,
    that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
    and for as many years as we have seen evil.
Let your work be shown to your servants,
    and your glorious power to their children.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
    and establish the work of our hands upon us;
    yes, establish the work of our hands!

       Psalm 90:12-17

Yielding Prayer

Lord, in obedience I seek to number my days. In wisdom, I ask that you would establish the work of my hands. Pour out your steadfast love on me this year and meet with me in the midst of the sufferings that will come.

Yielding Promise

And now, as I move into the day ahead, the Lord who loves me reminds me in Ephesians 1…

 For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

       Ephesians 1:15-23

Closing Prayer

Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus.
