Today we look at one of the most beautiful passages in all of Scripture.
Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.
As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.
Prayer of Approach
Lord, as Christmas approaches, let me experience your love today. Let me experience your love that became flesh for me, a love that went as far as the curse was found for me to be redeemed, a love that, because of the joy set before you, endured the crushing weight of the cross. Reveal yourself afresh to my soul now.
I choose to rejoice, with all God’s people, in the powerful promise that God gives us in Psalm 71…
Your righteousness, O God,
reaches the high heavens.
You who have done great things,
O God, who is like you?
You who have made me see many troubles and calamities
will revive me again;
from the depths of the earth
you will bring me up again.
You will increase my greatness
and comfort me again.
Psalm 71:19-21
As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:31-39
As I reread the passage, I reflect on the questions, “How is my life touched by this word?” and “How does this passage connect with my life?”

Romans 8:31-39
I mean what a passage to hold onto in this life. In a world that seems so crazy and always changing we can rest in these truths. We have a God who is for us and therefore nothing can stand against us. We have a God who did not spare his own Son so there’s nothing he will withhold from his children. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of Christ not because we are strong, but because he is. And in all of that, we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus.
Lord, fill me with the Holy Spirit and bury these truths in my heart in such a way that I can live my life out of these truths. Fill my heart with the experience of your love.
Heavenly Father, as we enter this season of Advent, we remember the hope you brought to the world through the birth of your Son, Jesus Christ. Stir our hearts with the same anticipation that awaited his coming, and awaken in us a deeper hunger for your presence. Revive us, O Lord, that we may shine your light in the darkness. As we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ’s birth, renew our faith, restore our joy, and draw us closer to you. Let this season be a time of spiritual renewal, where we reflect your love to those around us. Come, Lord Jesus, and reign in our hearts anew. May the hope, peace, joy, and love of Advent transform us and lead us to walk in your ways.
As I read the passage for the final time, I listen for how the Lord is inviting me to respond to him. Where in my life do I need to yield in obedience to what he has for me?

Yielding Prayer
Lord, fill me with your Spirit and make this Scripture real to me. Let me know that I am not alone today and you are the God that goes with me in the midst of all of this. As I face the circumstances of life today remind me of this passage and fill me with the hope that comes with it.
Yielding Promise
And now, as I move into the day ahead, the Lord who loves me reminds me in Romans 8…
Romans 8:37-39
Closing Prayer
Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus.
