Personal Worship

On the eve of a new year, I want us to unlock our imaginations for what God could do in 2026.

Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.

Pause

As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.

Prayer of Approach

Lord, give me eyes to see the hope that is found in you. Show me a bright future, not because the circumstances will all be bright, but because I enter into this life with you, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Rejoice and Reflect

As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.

Thus says the Lord,
    who makes a way in the sea,
    a path in the mighty waters,
who brings forth chariot and horse,
    army and warrior;
they lie down, they cannot rise,
    they are extinguished, quenched like a wick:
“Remember not the former things,
    nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
    now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
    and rivers in the desert.

      Isaiah 43:16-19

God made this universe from nothing to everything with just his words. He delivers his people time after time when all hope seems lost. He has the power over disease and our bodies. He has power over Satan and the whole spiritual realm. He is the God who does new things. That is our hope.

Ask

  1. How can I remind myself of who God is today?
  2. What stories in the Bible show the power of God? How should that fill me with hope?
  3. What new thing do I need this year? Where do I need the Lord by his power to make a desert a river?

Lord, let me forget the things of old and all the former things. Give me eyes to behold the new thing you are doing. Fill me with a supernatural confidence in who you are. Nothing is out of your hands or too much for your power.

Closing Prayer

Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus
