Personal Worship
God miraculously feeds his people in the Book of Exodus as they are in the wilderness.
Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.
As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.
Prayer of Approach
Lord, as I approach this day, remind me that you are with me in the midst of it all. In the season where we remember your coming to this earth, let me long for your presence in my life right now. Through your Word and prayer, let me experience your love today.
I choose to rejoice, with all God’s people, in the powerful promise that God gives us in Psalm 139…
O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
Psalm 139:1-6
As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not. On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily.” So Moses and Aaron said to all the people of Israel, “At evening you shall know that it was the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord, because he has heard your grumbling against the Lord. For what are we, that you grumble against us?” And Moses said, “When the Lord gives you in the evening meat to eat and in the morning bread to the full, because the Lord has heard your grumbling that you grumble against him—what are we? Your grumbling is not against us but against the Lord.”

As I reread the passage, I reflect on the questions, “How is my life touched by this word?” and “How does this passage connect with my life?”

In the wilderness, God teaches Israel that His provision is not only generous but also purposeful. By sending manna day by day, He invites His people to trust Him one sunrise at a time. The test was not simply whether they would gather the bread—it was whether they would believe that God would show up again tomorrow. Their complaints reveal a heart that longs for control, yet the Lord responds with patient provision rather than judgment. In this passage, God reminds us that dependence is not weakness, but the pathway to knowing Him more deeply. He is the God who hears our grumbling, meets our needs, and shows His glory in the very places where we feel most empty.
Lord, I ask that you show me my grumbling and let me see how you are actively providing for me each day.
Lord Jesus, in this Advent season of longing and light, awaken our hearts again. Stir in us a holy hunger for your presence. Revive what has grown weary, rekindle what has grown dim, and breathe new life into every place that has settled for less than your fullness. As we wait for your coming, come now—into our homes, our churches, our city, and our own hearts. Make room in us for your Spirit to move in power. Let your hope rise, your joy break in, your peace settle over us, and your love shine through us like a new dawn. Revive us, O Lord. We are waiting for you.
As I read the passage for the final time, I listen to how the Lord is inviting me to respond to him. Where in my life do I need to yield in obedience to what he has for me?

Yielding Prayer
Lord God, you are the One who provides bread in the wilderness and teaches my heart to trust you day by day. I confess how easily I grumble, doubt, and reach for control when you are inviting me into dependence. Today I yield my fears, my need to manage tomorrow, and my restless desire for certainty. Teach me to obey you in the small, daily steps you set before me. Help me receive your provision with gratitude and trust your promise that you will not fail me. Let my life reflect confidence in your faithful care, and may my obedience be an offering of love to you.
Yielding Promise
And now, as I move into the day ahead, the Lord who loves me reminds me in Romans 8…
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Closing Prayer
Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus
