Personal Worship

God brings Rebekah to Eliezar for Isaac.

Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.

Pause

As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.

Prayer of Approach

Lord, I ask that according to the riches of your glory, you will grant me to be strengthened with power through your Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. Root and ground me in love, so that I may have the strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know that love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that I may be filled with the fullness of God.

Rejoice and Reflect

I choose to rejoice, with all God’s people, in the powerful promise that God gives us in Isaiah 41…

fear not, for I am with you;
    be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

      Isaiah 41:10

As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.

Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, “The thing has come from the Lord; we cannot speak to you bad or good.  Behold, Rebekah is before you; take her and go, and let her be the wife of your master’s son, as the Lord has spoken.”

When Abraham’s servant heard their words, he bowed himself to the earth before the Lord. And the servant brought out jewelry of silver and of gold, and garments, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave to her brother and to her mother costly ornaments. And he and the men who were with him ate and drank, and they spent the night there. When they arose in the morning, he said, “Send me away to my master.” Her brother and her mother said, “Let the young woman remain with us a while, at least ten days; after that she may go.” But he said to them, “Do not delay me, since the Lord has prospered my way. Send me away that I may go to my master.” They said, “Let us call the young woman and ask her.” And they called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” She said, “I will go.” So they sent away Rebekah their sister and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant and his men. And they blessed Rebekah and said to her,

“Our sister, may you become
    thousands of ten thousands,
and may your offspring possess
the gate of those who hate him!”

       Genesis 24:50-60

As I reread the passage, I reflect on the questions, “How is my life touched by this word?” and “How does this passage connect with my life?”

We fast-forwarded a bit, so if you want to read how it all goes down feel free. After Eliezar prays, miraculously Rebekah shows up and does everything Eliezar needs as a sign. They go back to the family and Eliezar explains himself. Rebekah’s brother, Laban, agrees as well that this is right. There is still one more yes that is needed, Rebekah’s. Imagine the difficulty and the faith necessary to say yes to this. You have been told all of these things, but none of it is tangible. You’ve seen the wealth of this man, but who is he as a person? If you are Rebekah you’ve probably imagined what this would be like and the dreams definitely don’t match this reality. God is calling her to have faith and trust in what God is doing. She says in faith, “I will go.”

Ask

Lord, I ask that you give me faith to say, “I will go”. Give me trust in you that I cannot doubt. Let me be guided by your Spirit.

  1. If I am Rebekah, what questions am I asking? What concerns do I have?
  2. Why do I think Rebekah says, “I will go.”?
  3. Where is God calling me to act in faith?
  4. Where do I need to ask the Holy Spirit for faith and trust in God’s plan for my life currently?

Lord, we come before you seeking revival in our hearts and lives. Renew our spirits, ignite our passion for your truth, and restore our commitment to follow your ways. Pour out your Holy Spirit upon us, bringing fresh hope, strength, and courage. Revive our faith and fill us with your love, so that we may shine as lights in this world.

Yield

As I read the passage for the final time, I listen for how the Lord is inviting me to respond to him. Where in my life do I need to yield in obedience to what he has for me?

Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, “The thing has come from the Lord; we cannot speak to you bad or good.  Behold, Rebekah is before you; take her and go, and let her be the wife of your master’s son, as the Lord has spoken.”

When Abraham’s servant heard their words, he bowed himself to the earth before the Lord. And the servant brought out jewelry of silver and of gold, and garments, and gave them to Rebekah. “Our sister, may you become

and may your offspring possess

       Genesis 24:50-60

Yielding Prayer

Lord, fill me with obedience. In this life, there are difficult and scary decisions. Fill me with a Spirit of power and love and self-control and let me act from that place. Let my life be defined by faith in you and let all those around me see that.

Yielding Promise

And now, as I move into the day ahead, the Lord who loves me reminds me in Hebrews 11…

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

       Hebrews 11:1

Closing Prayer

Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus.
