Personal Worship
We end the week in the back half of Proverbs 31.
Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.
As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.
Prayer of Approach
Heavenly Father, as I come before you today, I quiet my heart and mind to seek your presence. Thank you for the gift of your Word and the privilege of prayer. Open my eyes to see wonderful things in your truth. Soften my heart to hear your voice and respond with faith and obedience. Help me draw near to you, not just with words, but with a sincere and humble spirit. Lead me, teach me, and meet with me now.
I choose to rejoice, with all God’s people, in the powerful promise that God gives us in Psalm 36…
How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light do we see light.
Psalm 36:7-9
As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
She makes bed coverings for herself;
her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates
when he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them;
she delivers sashes to the merchant.
Strength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women have done excellently,
but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands,
and let her works praise her in the gates.

As I reread the passage, I reflect on the questions, “How is my life touched by this word?” and “How does this passage connect with my life?”

Proverbs 31 ends by showing how a godly woman’s strength, wisdom, and influence bless her family and community. From a man’s perspective, this reveals his need for a wife who not only works diligently but also inspires and uplifts those around her. Her confidence, courage, and godly speech encourage her husband, strengthen the home, and leave a lasting legacy. A man thrives when he has a partner whose faith, character, and foresight support him, honor him, and glorify God.
Lord, show me what you have for me today. Speak to me through your Word.
Lord, we come before you with humble hearts, desperate for your presence. Breathe new life into us, O God. Revive our love for you, rekindle our passion for your Word, and restore our joy in serving you. Tear down every idol, cleanse every sin, and awaken every heart. Let your Spirit move in power among us, that our lives would burn brightly for your glory.
As I read the passage for the final time, I listen to how the Lord is inviting me to respond to him. Where in my life do I need to yield in obedience to what he has for me?

Yielding Prayer
Lord, you are God and I am not. Fill me with your Spirit and let me walk in obedience today. Let my conversations be flavored by your Word and character. Let me take you everywhere I go.

Closing Prayer
Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus.
