Personal Worship

Today, we seek deeper confidence in Christ, knowing that every true treasure of wisdom and knowledge is found in him.

Together we will pray (P.R.A.Y.) each day – ‘P’: Pausing to be still as we come into the presence of the Lord. ‘R’: Rejoicing as we remember who our God is and what He has done, and Reflecting on His word. ‘A’: Asking God to help us and others. And ‘Y’: yielding to His will in accordance with His word.

Pause

As I come before you to pray, I still my thoughts and quiet my mind. I seek to make you the center of my focus.

Prayer of Approach

Jesus, you are supreme over all things! You are the way, the truth, and the life. You are the Word in the flesh. I approach your throne in confidence knowing that your blood has covered me. Meet me in this time and fill me with your Spirit and bring transformation to my soul.

Rejoice and Reflect

I choose to rejoice, with all God’s people, in the powerful promise that God gives us in Psalm 16…

I have set the Lord always before me;
    because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;
    my flesh also dwells secure.

     Psalm 16:8-9

As you read the passages below, ask the Lord to cause a word or phrase to stand out to you.

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

       Colossians 2:1-3

As I reread the passage, I reflect on the questions, “How is my life touched by this word?” and “How does this passage connect with my life?”

Paul longs for God’s people to be encouraged, united in love, and confident in their knowledge of Christ. We live in a world filled with voices promising wisdom, answers, security, and fulfillment. Yet Scripture directs our attention back to Jesus, in whom every treasure of wisdom and knowledge is found. We never graduate from our need for Christ; the deeper we grow, the more we discover his sufficiency. Together, we can seek him above every competing voice and trust that everything we ultimately need is found in him.

Ask

Jesus, encourage my heart where I have doubt, and Satan tempts me to despair.

  1. Where am I looking for wisdom or fulfillment apart from Jesus?
  2. Do I truly believe that Christ is sufficient for me?
  3. How can I pursue a deeper knowledge of Jesus today?
  4. How can I help strengthen love and unity among God’s people?

Father, revive our hunger to know Christ more deeply. Turn our hearts away from lesser treasures and awaken in us a greater desire for the wisdom, beauty, and sufficiency of Jesus.

Yield

As I read the passage for the final time, I listen to how the Lord is inviting me to respond to him. Where in my life do I need to yield in obedience to what he has for me?

For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

       Colossians 2:1-3

Yielding Prayer

Jesus, I yield my search for wisdom, satisfaction, and security to you. Teach me to seek you first and trust that what my soul ultimately needs is found in you.

Yielding Promise

And now, as I move into the day ahead, the Lord who loves me reminds me in James 1…

 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

       James 1:5-6

Closing Prayer

Lord, enable me, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to love you today with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to serve you today, by loving and caring for others as I do my own self; and, to exalt you today, by telling the people in my world about the abundant and eternal life found only through faith in Jesus
