Friday Night
Prayer
As this day comes to a close, I quiet the noise of my thoughts and my efforts, and seek you in the stillness.
Refrain for the Evening
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20
Am I going into this evening carrying anxiety or worry in my heart? Lord, I open my hands now and give you all of the things that have me anxious. Having laid my burdens at your feet, I receive the peace that comes from trusting you with them. You have promised me that your steadfast love endures forever. (Psalm 136:2)
Refrain for the Evening
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20
Am I going into this evening fearful over something in my life? I take a deep breath now and consciously choose to trust you in this moment with my life and all I hold dear, knowing that your word to me is “fear not,” because you are the one who helps me. (Isaiah 41:13)
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
As I go to sleep, my Father, I praise you for sustaining me this day, and thank you for your blessings in it. Show me now where you have been answering prayers or how you were at work in my life today.
Evening Scripture
Remember my affliction and my wanderings, the wormwood and the gall! My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me. But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.
Lamentations 3:19-26
But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
Isaiah 59:2
Father God, I do not want any separation between us! Please show me any sin that I committed today, especially the things I may not see, that I might confess to you now.
Thank you Lord, that you have told me you will remember my sins and my lawless deeds no more (Hebrews 10:17). I trust now that I am forgiven.
Refrain for the Evening
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20
Closing Prayer
In peace I now lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8) Grant rest tonight, I pray. And grant that tomorrow I would again seek your Kingdom and your glory in all the earth. Amen.
