Prepare for Worship (weekend of September 17)

Hey Church!

Last week I went on a big Shane & Shane kick around the same time I was planning this coming Sunday’s service, so 3/4 of our music this weekend is either their song or their arrangement! I always love their music but I’ve been a bit obsessive as of late. I would encourage you to watch all of the videos linked below over the weekend. In the first of the videos, the Shanes share a brief story about the making of their new song, Living Water, so I hope that will help contextualize and adopt it as your own when we sing it for the first time this Sunday.

I also wanted to let you all know that this is a Communion Sunday! As you listen to the songs and watch the videos below, think about the goodness of our Shepherd who prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies. In the famous 23rd Psalm, that “table” actually refers to a slightly elevated, flat area (like a plateau) where shepherds would bring their sheep to graze. When you approach the communion table this Sunday, take joy in the knowledge that your Good Shepherd has called you to Himself, led you to safe pastures, and says, “Take, eat, and be comforted.” The bread and juice are a powerful, multi-sensory testimony to the kindness of our God who tenderly cares for the needs of His sheep.

Lastly, I have copied the lyrics of our new song, Living Water, so that you can familiarize yourself with its message and sing along. Have a great weekend, everybody! I can hardly wait to worship with you all on Sunday!

Amen!
Ryan

“Living Water”

Dry bones, right now
Breathe in, breathe out
No more drinking the dirt
I’m thirsty

(Pre-Chorus)
Oh Spirit of resurrection
Flowing through me
You’ve made me a new creation
How can it be

(Chorus)
Living water, deep within me
Saturate my soul
Like a river, break the levee
Let it overflow
I could never have too much of Your love, your love oh
Living water, deep within me
Saturate my soul

(Verse 2)
One life soon past
Only what’s done for You will last
So break up this dry ground
Spring a well from the inside out

(Repeat Chorus)

(Bridge)
Holy Spirit, holy Presence
You have changed the atmosphere here in my chest
Holy Wellspring, what’s in store?
I am longing for more

(Repeat Chorus)
