Rio Vista Church

Serve the World

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Acts 1:8

In the book of Acts, Jesus proclaims that his disciples are called to be his witnesses to the ends of the earth. At Rio, we long to see the gospel proclaimed in all nations and celebrate opportunities that God gives us to take part in His Kingdom work around the world!

We take great delight in identifying, equipping, and supporting Rio members as they seek to find their platform for mission in the world. Our Platforms for Mission are the places, ministries, and opportunities where we help others deeply engage with Jesus. So, consider this: Where is God moving you to bring the hope of Jesus to the people in the world?

Ways to serve:

01. Brazil:

Please read the statement below from the President of Samaritan’s Purse, Franklin Graham:

“Samaritan’s Purse rushed our 757 and DC-8 cargo planes full of relief supplies to southern Brazil this weekend in response to massive flooding. In the coming days, our Disaster Assistance Response Team on the ground will begin providing these items—which include shelter tarp, hygiene kits, blankets, and personal water filters—to those who lost everything to the floodwaters. They will also be setting up community filtration systems that can provide clean water for up to 10,000 people per day.

The region has been overwhelmed by heavy rains during the past month, resulting in deadly floods and landslides. More than 100 people have been killed, with hundreds of thousands having to flee their homes. In Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, five of the six water treatment facilities are shut down, meaning most of the population is without clean water.

The needs are urgent and more rain is expected, so we will keep flying our cargo planes to deliver more urgently needed aid. On the ground, we are partnering closely with local churches, as well as military and government officials. While we work, we will boldly share why we’re there—pointing people to the Lord Jesus Christ who is our anchor in the storm.

Please keep the hurting families of Brazil in your prayers and ask for wisdom for our teams as they serve them.”

01. Israel-Hamas War:

*Please read the statement below from Church United
“As a Christian community, the conflict between Israel and Hamas is heartbreaking and deeply concerning. It involves incredible human suffering and is creating a massive humanitarian crisis along with further global instability.

As the people of God, we weep for all of those who are weeping and mourn with those who are mourning (Romans 12:15). We pray for a prompt end of the tremendous suffering and hardship the region is experiencing and for lasting peace to be established.

We recognize that this is a region of great historical and religious significance that has held peace and conflict in constant tension and complexity for many years. We join alongside millions of other Christ-followers around the globe praying for faith, hope, and love to be made known more fully and for supernatural intervention to end this conflict. May God, in his sovereignty, bring many people to discover the hope and reality of Jesus Christ during this time of crisis.

It is important to remember that as Christians, we are part of a global family of Christ-followers. The local Church has always been, and will continue to be, God’s agent to bring hope, healing and restoration in times of pain, suffering, and crisis. As in any crisis, be it local or global, we want to champion the local Church and believe that God is calling us to do just that.

If you would like to lend your resources to strengthening churches in the midst of this crisis that are benevolently caring for those suffering in their communities, we (National Christian Foundation) have activated our Disaster Relief and Crisis Fund and are committing 100% of every dollar raised to go in support of local churches and vetted ministry partners laboring to spread faith, bring hope, and provide healing to a community experiencing unspeakable hardship. This fund is powered by the National Christian Foundation of South Florida – by following the link below, you’ll be directed to their secure giving platform.

02. Ukraine

As the news from Eastern Europe continues to unfold, our hearts are burdened for the people in Ukraine. In light of this present situation, we want to invite everyone to:

1)  As the Church, we want to earnestly pray for our brothers and sisters in the Ukraine. You will find a prayer guide provided below that will help guide your time of prayer.

2)  If you feel led to give financial relief and support, we would encourage you to use the provided link to give through the National Christian Foundation of South Florida, which has vetted various organizations who are working with the local church in Ukraine and other affected countries, to determine both the immediate and long term needs of the community.
