Rio Vista Church

You Were Designed To Live In Community With Others.

Woven into the story of God calling and redeeming a people for himself is a call for those people to live in community. It was there in the beginning. It was not good for man to be alone. When God gave Eve to Adam, he didn’t just give him a partner. Through her, he gave them both others. He gave them a community. Scripture describes that community for Christians as a bride and a body.

One Christian’s association with other Christians is, in the sight of God, intimate and unbreakable. We are bound to each other forever, as far as God is concerned. So we respond to this call to unity by forming intentional communities—i.e., smaller groups, where Christ is our head, and we gather as a people under the authority of his word—seeking to live out the two great commandments: love God and love others.

At Rio Vista Church, we have two types of groups: Community Groups and Learning Groups.

When Do Groups Meet?

Most of our groups—specifically our community groups—will resume in August 2025. Check back soon for ways to get connected!

We understand that life flows in seasons. Therefore, we want to make it easy for you to be in the right group no matter what season you find yourself to be in.

Our groups meet during two cycles we refer to as “Season 1” and “Season 2.” Our seasons each year are as follows:

What are Community Groups?

Community Groups meet at least twice a month and engage in either a sermon-based discussion or dedicate their time specifically to prayer. Groups are encouraged to simply engage with one another, get to know one another, and be involved in one another’s lives.

What are Learning Groups?

There are numerous Learning Groups at Rio Vista Church, all of which are designed to aid in increasing biblical literacy or aid in understanding everything through a biblical mindset. Subjects range from Bible basics to more in-depth studies of different books of the Bible.

As you preview the groups below, we encourage you to not just join a group but take every opportunity to gather with your group.

Discipleship Group

Ruth was a young woman living in a time when people seemed only to care about themselves—not God or each other. Imagine how remarkable it was when she gave up everything—her comfort, home, and future hopes—to travel to a foreign land to help her friend in need; despite having nothing, she went anyway! In the six-week study, Ruth: Becoming a Girl of Loyalty, you’ll explore her story and discover how you can also embody loyalty, love, and godliness.
