Rio Vista Church

So Glad
You Are Here!

Here at Rio Vista Church, we’re committed to walking alongside you as you grow in your relationship with Jesus. Our unique growth track is designed to help you grow in your walk as a disciple of Jesus. Each step is aligned with one of our core values: Gather, Connect, Grow, Serve.

As you engage with the Growth Track, we would love to hear more about your story and connect with you more at our next Discover Rio.

Discover Rio is the best way for you to get connected.
It is a six-week journey that guides you to learn about who we are, where we’re going, and why you matter!

We were made to worship God. As Eugene Peterson says, “Worship is the strategy by which we interrupt our preoccupation with ourselves and attend to the presence of God.” The Lord calls us to both personal and corporate worship. Jesus made it a priority to spend time alone with His Father (Mark 1:35), yet His Word also commands, “Don’t stop meeting together.” (Hebrews 10:25)

This weekly rhythm of worship not only reorients us to God, but it also connects the family of God in ways that encourage us toward love and good works. Joining the church in worship helps us know God, glorify God, and enjoy Him fully.

We were not meant to go through life alone. The importance of community runs deeper than just fulfilling the need to belong; it is embedded in the very fabric of who we are; it is a part of our design. For this reason, community life is not optional for those who desire to live by the Gospel. Groups provide a family inside the larger family of Rio Vista Church. Only in community are we able to fulfill the design that God has for His people — to love one another, serve one another, pray for one another, and bear one another’s burdens.

Jesus is called Immanuel, which means “God with us.” He became a man to be with us, and we are called to likewise pursue life with others. By Joining a Group, we help our church grow; we receive godly counsel and accountability; and we find love and support for the days we celebrate and the days we mourn.

Spiritual growth of a Christian is developed through a lifelong commitment to a deepening and fully surrendered personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Relying entirely upon the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, we are called to conform our lives into the likeness of Jesus. In the New Testament, the Apostle John tells us that when we finally see Jesus face-to-face, “we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is” (1 Jn. 3:2).

Starting with personal worship, we want to begin that process — sharing the all-sufficient beauty of Jesus Christ and allowing the Spirit to begin the process of conforming each of us into the likeness of Christ. Additionally, knowing we can never outgrow the gospel, we want to provide multiple offerings where you are able to deepen your knowledge of scripture, Christ, and how the Gospel should impact your daily walk with Him.

We have been created on purpose, for a purpose. Our God is a “sending God.” The Father “sent forth his Son” to redeem us (Galatians 4:4), and the Son now sends us into the world. As ambassadors of Christ, we are the “sent” people of God (2 Corinthians 5:20). It is through His Church that Jesus is bringing redemption and renewal to our community and the world. For this reason, we are to be intentional with our day-to-day encounters as well as purposeful on how we use the unique platforms that God has given to us in order to witness and serve.

In both our ministries at Rio and at ministry partners who serve the city, we help others deeply engage with Jesus. Finding our place to serve is an essential way we respond to the unique call Jesus has given us as His followers.
