We were made to worship God. As Eugene Peterson says, “Worship is the strategy by which we interrupt our preoccupation with ourselves and attend to the presence of God.” The Lord calls us to both personal and corporate worship. Jesus made it a priority to spend time alone with His Father (Mark 1:35), yet His Word also commands, “Don’t stop meeting together.” (Hebrews 10:25)
This weekly rhythm of worship not only reorients us to God, but it also connects the family of God in ways that encourage us toward love and good works. Joining the church in worship helps us know God, glorify God, and enjoy Him fully.
