Rio Vista Church

Prayer moves the hand that moves the world.

Charles Spurgeon

At Rio Vista Church, we believe that prayer is foundational to life as a Christian and as a church. As Jim Cymbala says, “If we call upon the Lord, He has promised in His Word to answer, to bring the unsaved to Himself, to pour out His Spirit among us. If we don’t call upon the Lord, He has promised nothing—nothing at all. It’s as simple as that. No matter what is preached or what we claim to believe in our heads, the future will depend on our times of prayer.

The prayer ministry at Rio exists with the goal of making our church a house of prayer, a place in which all recognize the importance of and engage in prayer for ourselves, our church, our neighbors and families, and the world. We believe that the transforming, life-giving work of the Holy Spirit only comes through powerful prayer.

Below, you will find opportunities to receive prayer, pray for others, and pray corporately with others.

Prayer House

In partnership with 24-7 Prayer, we participate with churches across the globe in prayer and intercession for our communities and our world. Our 24-7 Prayer House is available to individuals, families and groups for prayer.

Prayer Newsletter

We invite you to sign up for Rio’s Prayer List emails! At the beginning of the week, you will receive a list highlighting different topics to pray for, including our country, the persecuted church, and the current needs of the church and Bethany Christian School. This list also lays out the requests of our people submitted through our “Request Prayer” button. In addition, at the top of the page, all prayer offerings happening for the current week are detailed. We hope you join us in seeking the Lord together for these needs!

Intercessory Prayer

There are several options to gather for prayer during the week:
• Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Worship Center
• Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Parlor (Men only)
• Pre-service prayer on Sunday morning at 8:45 in the Parlor
• Intercessory prayer during the services

Prayer Resources:

Pray First 2022

No matter what time of the year it may be, today is a great opportunity to take stock of your relationship with Jesus. Are you strong in him? Have you drifted? Are you hungry for more? This plan is designed to help you in that endeavor and to mobilize you, alongside your brothers and sisters across South Florida, for Mission in the name of Jesus!

We pray that God will meet you mightily in this plan for your freedom and his glory!

Pray First 2023

Sometimes it can feel like there is so much to do or be to successfully walk this Christian life. When in actuality, it is all about learning to abide with our Savior. From that safe and powerful place, we can confidently bring all our requests to God both for ourselves and for others, and then watch to see how He goes before us, opening the way for us to simply follow and share in His redemptive plan for the world! This plan is meant to focus us on these truths, to simplify and strengthen our walk with Jesus and unite us and our brothers and sisters in partnership for the gospel!

We pray that God would meet you mightily in this plan, fill you with His fullness and send you out in power for the kingdom!

What is Revival?

This resource was created for Church United pastors who are part of an active study cohort here in SFL. One of the topics for our first meeting was revival. The video was created to set up that conversation.

Questions to help consider:
1) What holds us back from believing that “what God has done at one time, he can do” again in our time?

2) Think about a time in your life when you felt the overwhelming sense of God’s presence. What did it feel like? What did it produce in you?

3) What are the things that we have been depending on that keeps us from prayerfully falling in line and depending on God wholly and absolutely?
