The Soul Care team at Rio Vista Church offers confidential, one-to-one Christian care to people who are experiencing a difficult time. Each team member is an RVC member trained to listen, care, encourage, pray, and provide weekly support as long as the need persists.
We believe the “cure of souls” is attained through intentional relational shepherding. Rio Vista believes that hearing God’s word and then being obedient to what it says is the indispensable pathway to freedom from so many hurts that we deal with in this life. Rio Soul-Care is here to help you find hope, healing, and transformation. Our desire is to serve you with biblical and theologically informed care that leads to transformation and freedom in Christ.
Soul-Care is a process of discipleship and sanctification
Soul-Care is a transformational process. This process is part of a lifelong habit of following Jesus and engaging in the spiritual disciplines that he modeled for his followers.
It begins with Hope, through intentionally seeking to glorify God by bringing one’s life into conformity with God’s design. (2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”)
Hope leads to Healing that occurs through the practice of regular study of the Word of God and prayer. It will illuminate the soul by giving direction and understanding in the issues of life. It is the process by which the Holy Spirit helps a person to understand the truth and application of God’s Word to one’s daily life. (“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18)
Healing leads to Transformation, which is realized through the restoration of relationships, healthy re-engagement in the community, and a heart that desires to follow Jesus by conforming to the will of God.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
