Prepare for Worship (weekend of June 4th)

Hey, Church!

We have a new song to sing this Sunday called “Here Again.” Its lyrics prompt us to look back and remember God’s long, steady faithfulness to us; to look forward and trust that He will be faithful then just as well. And in light of the past and future–”here in the middle”–we want to call on Him to make His glory appear in our present weakness: “I’m not enough unless you come. Will you meet me here again?”

Many of you know what it feels like to be on a small boat in rough seas. When your eyes are focused on the deck below your feet, it may not take long for you to start feeling a little queasy. It helps to look up and focus your eyes on the horizon to the east or the shoreline to the west.

That’s kind of what a song like Here Again calls us to do–to look to Jesus and be at peace. We may spend too much of our time during the week focused on the tumultuous ground beneath our feet that we forget that God’s faithfulness transcends every momentary trouble. So, this Sunday, look up! Pray for the Spirit to help you fix your eyes on Him.

Here Again
Verse 1
Can’t go back to the beginning
Can’t control what tomorrow will bring
But I know here in the middle
Is the place where you promise to be

Chorus
I’m not enough unless you come
Will you meet me here again
‘Cause all I want is all you are
Will you meet me here again

Verse 2
As I walk now through the valley
Let your love rise above every fear
Like the sun shaping the shadow
In my weakness your glory appears

Bridge
Not for a minute was I forsaken
The Lord is in this place
The Lord is in this place
Come Holy Spirit dry bones awaken
The Lord is in this place
The Lord is in this place

“The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” (Ps. 9:9-10)

Ryan
